Partnerships

Open Culture Review considers collaborations that fit its attention to culture, interpretation and clear presentation. Any arrangement must leave editorial judgement intact and make the relationship legible to readers.

Kinds of collaboration

We consider clearly bounded projects such as commissioned cultural explainers, event or publication partnerships, and relevant listings or partner placements. Proposals should state the subject, intended audience, proposed format, support involved and any expected visibility. We do not accept collaborations whose purpose is to secure an unlabelled endorsement.

Partner placements

Relevant partner placements may appear in agreed areas across the site. Their wording and visual presentation should make their partner status clear, and placement does not imply that Open Culture Review has independently reviewed or endorsed the linked material. We reserve the right to decline work that does not suit the publication.

Editorial separation

Partners cannot approve or suppress independent editorial conclusions. Any commissioned or supported material is labelled where readers encounter it, with the nature of the relationship stated plainly. We discuss scope and labelling before work begins so there is no uncertainty about what is editorial and what is promotional.
